FINALLY….I’M HERE! EXCUSE MY TARDINESS
This video if nothing else, will entertain you. Promise.
Welcome to Excuse My Blog! Hello and first of all, thank you SO SO much for stopping by to check out my first post! The name has been officially inspired by the Youtube video I just forced you to watch. To be honest, I’m not really sure why, but I can watch this video a million times and still laugh and repeatedly quote it. I just love that Steven simply exists and has such an attitude with no apologies. I. LOVE. HIM. I think we all can learn a little something from him (aside from tanning our legs, NOT our faces). Maybe confidence? Yeah. We’ll go with that.
I regret to say that I have been planning on starting this blog for over a year (no joke), but had a few things holding me back. First off, let me just say that I have been an avid fashion blog reader for some time now and can truthfully admit that probably 75% of the clothing/beauty items I buy, are because I saw how they were styled by one of my favorite bloggers. I love fashion, shopping, and styling and really just want to be able to share that with others as well as connect with other people who share the same interests.
The first thing I that held me back a bit was the fact that I felt marginally insufficient regarding what I was doing. I really don’t know the first thing about blogging and am slowly trying to learn the ropes. I have to admit, it can be a little intimidating scouring through the Internet through some of these amazing blogs that look like magazine ads! Not to mention the clothes I see on some of my favorite blogger’s websites! I would kill for a pair of Leboutin’s or just one Philip Lim bag. KILL. So I just kind of felt like I didn’t have the right “stuff” to start anything.
But after dragging my feet for nearly a year, I think I just finally realized that everyone has to start somewhere and that it isn’t necessarily a brand that makes a great look or outfit.
Also, there are so many different color schemes, layouts, fonts, etc. that I almost had a meltdown trying to make sure I didn’t choose the wrong thing. I’m one of those types of people that don’t like to do something, unless they feel 100% ready and prepared for it. I wanted everything to be perfect before I put up my first post. News flash. It definitely isn’t. Again, I just had to realize that everything will NEVER be perfect and I can always change it down the road. Some of my favorite bloggers update the look of their sites all of the time! I’m just going to have to suck it up and learn as I go, and I hope you will bear with me. (I’m always up for ideas, tips, suggestions, etc.)
The second reason I had such hesitations in starting this blog is (I’m embarrassed to say) because I was too worried about what other people would think. I just didn’t want it to seem pretentious in any way. Would pictures of me on the site come across as narcissistic? Will it come across as if I am trying to hard? What fashion experience do I have that enables me to start something like this?
Wait….What would Steven do? He’d own it. And he would own it without any apologies. I’ve just realized that its time to do something for me whether or not anyone else likes it (um, but really, please do :).
I’m also a huge fan of the entertainment business, beauty, hair, celebrity gossip, and crime television so you may get a variation of things from me until I get into a groove of the content I enjoy posting. I mean who wouldn’t want an analysis of Dateline paired with statement necklace must-haves? Enjoy the randomness, and again, thank you so much for joining me in this journey!
