The Gothic Quarter in Barcelona has got to be (HANDS DOWN) my favorite area. While walking through it, you almost have to pinch yourself to make sure it’s real. It almost feels Disney-esque. You literally expect to be walking off a movie set at any given point in time. My sister told me she felt like she was in one of her favorite video games, Assassins Creed (minus the whole ‘scaling tall buildings with a single jump’ thing ). The streets are just SO narrow and I love how some of them have barely any light that shines through to the pavement. I remember one day walking past an opera singer in a plaza near the Barcelona Cathedral and wondering where her mic was hidden. Come to find out she didn’t have one. The walls of the area created the perfect acoustics for her to perform without any amplification. It was such a cool thing to experience.  See below for pics from one of our days out in this awesome area:

excuse-my-blog-a-peak-in-the-gothic-quarter-4Is this REAL life?!

excuse-my-blog-a-peek-in-the-gothic-quarter-6This is a picture directly underneath the archway. Such amazing artistry!

excuse-my-blog-a-peek-in-the-gothic-quarter-11How is this for something to just stumble upon? This is the outside the most famous Cathedral in Barcelona. I can’t say enough about the Gothic architecture!

excuse-my-blog-a-peek-in-the-gothic-quarter-13We almost decided not to go into the Cathedral. We didn’t know if it was worth the money and time. But I am SO glad we decided to do it. The day that we were there ended up being a day where there wasn’t an admission fee, so it work out really nicely. But after experiencing it, TRUST ME, it is WELL worth the money. Plus, when else were we going to see something quite like this?!

excuse-my-blog-a-peek-in-the-gothic-quarter-15We were allowed to go to the top of the Cathedral which was gave us both amazing view of the city and an entirely different perspective of the architecture of the building.

excuse-my-blog-a-peek-in-the-gothic-quarter-20On the outside grounds of the church, there was a cute garden area and pond filled with white geese (which I totally thought were swans).

excuse-my-blog-a-peek-in-the-gothic-quarter-22Hiya, buddy!

005A7388-EditNow onto the fashion. I picked up this dress while in Spain at one of the (many) local Zaras. I just fell in love with the color! I kind of go by the rule that you can show a lot of skin either up top or down below, but never both. I just really appreciated the high neckline of the dress and felt like it was something I could wear both during the day and out at night!

excuse-my-blog-a-peek-in-the-gothic-quarter-25One of the best things about the Gothic Quarter is that it truly is more fun getting lost and exploring all of the little nooks and crannies, then having a destination in mind. Having a place to find in a time crunch will no doubt stress you out! One day my sister and I were looking for the Picasso museum (which was NOT easy to find by the way) and we got turned around several times. When we finally made it to the museum, we decided that the line was kind of long and that we had more fun exploring. So we did that instead and loved it.
